What to Expect During Your Initial Consultation
Our initial goal is to identify and understand the cause and symptoms of your leg pain. Symptoms may include swelling, heaviness, tiredness, discoloration, ulcers or more. Our next goal is inform you of treatment options and make the best recommendations based on your unique needs. Here is what you can expect during your initial consultation.
Paperwork
We will email you a link to our patient portal where you can complete the majority of the required paperwork. Make sure any patient forms including medical history are filled out to the best of your ability before your scheduled appointment begins.
Physical Examination
During your complimentary vein screening, our providers will address your specific areas of concern.
This screening focuses on your family and vascular history, leg and vein symptoms, and identification of the affected areas. In order to properly examine problem areas we will have you wear a pair of loose fitting shorts, either ones you wear or we provide. We may recommend an ultrasound if we determine you need further evaluation.
Ultrasound
The ultrasound is an important step in evaluating the valves of your veins. Ultrasound provides our experts with a map of the valves of your veins so we can tailor any necessary treatment specifically for you. A portion of this exam will be done with you standing. The ultrasound can be completed in our office during your varicose vein screening appointment. You will be responsible for any required ultrasound testing copay or deducible however this test is covered by many medical insurance providers.
Individualized Treatment Plan
Based on the results from the ultrasound and vein screening, our experts will develop an individualized treatment plan which will include the best advanced therapies and minimally-invasive procedures for your specific needs.
The combination of ultrasound and vein screening allows us to determine if you have valve problems. An appointment for ultrasound with vein screening together should take about an hour.
